With the London 2012 Olympics just around the corner, 5 official songs have been chosen for a special music programme called ‘Rock The Games’. Muse have already been selected as the Official Olympic song, with their track ‘Survival‘, but this evening saw ‘The Chemical Brothers‘, debut a track specifically created for the Velodrome and appropriately titled, ‘Theme from Velodrome’. Other artists taking part in ‘Rock The Games‘ include, Elton John vs Pnau, Delphic, and Dizzee Rascal.
Having completed the track in early February, the dance duo were under strict instructions to keep it top secret, so it’s been a long time coming for it’s first play. Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1, debuted the track tonight, and had a quick chat with Ed Simons, who was thrilled to be taking part in such an iconic event. An interview with The Chemical Brothers wouldn’t be complete without asking is there an album on the horizon? The answer, yes… in time. At the moment they’re both keeping busy DJ’ing over the summer, and commented that:
“A bit of time apart never hurt anyone.”
‘Theme from Velodrome’ is the perfect theme song for the Velodrome arena, and will really intensify the atmosphere of the event. It will be available to download from iTunes on 30th July, but for now, check out the below clip.
